Long legs, great figure, no catfights - meet the perfect model
"Fairy in Paradise" by YanFong wins the Polytechnic University's Barbie Fashion Show celebrate the
45th anniversary of the doll. Refer to the photos belows.
Twenty-Six unconventional beauties modelled student designs at Barbie fashion show yesterday.
To be sure, they were blonde and leggy, and they wore plastic expressions worthy of Paris or Milan.
But at just 30cm tall, these models - Barbie dolls, in fact - would be hard pressed finding employment on the world's catwalks.
The show formed the climax of a costume design competition held as part of Hong Kong Polytechnic University's arts festival.
YanFong won the Champion prize while the 26 designs paraded last night were chosen from more than 160 entries.

Idea of Paradise Inspired Winning Design reported by Young PostReported by Young Post dated March 23 about YanFong's winning Design
Idea of Paradise Inspired Winning Design
Everyone has their won idea of paradis. To express her vision of the ideal world, YanFong designed a fancy costume, - " Fairy in Paradise" - for the legendary Barbie. Her design won the top prize in the Barbie costume design competition.
Yan's design was inspired by her childhood perception of the famous doll. To her, the classic character is like a fairy in paradise - pretty, elegant, delicate, pure and carerfree.
"When I was a kid, I dreamt of having a Barbie but never had one. I always imagined what Barbie was like," said the 19-year-old.
The competition, part of the university's Arts Festival and timed to coincide with the 45th anniversary of Barbie, attracted more than 160 entries.
The winning design, together with 53 other outstanding entries, is on display in the foyer of the university's Jockey Club Auditorium until next Friday.
Ms Fong's design seeks to tap into people's subconscious ideas of paradise. She used dried plants and flowers as the materials for the doll's costume: the hat is made of daisy seeds, aquamarine and ivy leaves, and the high wheeled shoes are made of moss, green pine needles, lily leaves and daisy seeds. She also used paint, rather than clothes, to decorate the doll's body.
" I think it is more appropriate to use natural materials to create the paradise-like feeling and to bring out the idea behind my design," she said.
" A human body actually is very beautiful without any clothes on."
To make her design more comprehensive, Ms Fong also put together four posters for the character, even though that was not part of the competition.
